Boston Mayoral Preliminary Election Results 2021

Update: Boston city councilors Michelle Wu and Annissa Essaibi George on Tuesday said they topped a handful of mayoral candidates to advance to the general election in November. i">>Read more here.

It’s Election Day in Boston where voters are asked to cast their ballot in the mayoral and city council races.

Voters will narrow the field from five candidates to a pair to face off in November. Mayoral races in Boston do not include party primaries. All of the candidates are Democrats.

Of the five candidates, all are people of color and four are women. The mayoral hopefuls include: Acting Mayor Kim Janey, city councilors Annissa Essaibi George, Andrea Campbell and Michelle Wu, and John Barros, the city’s former economic development chief.

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.

Polls close on Election Day at 8 p.m. when ballots will begin to be tabulated.
