Where Is The Most Beautiful Place In Florida

More than 1.7 million Floridians have specialty license plates, showing their support for their most treasured wildlife and favorite hobbies, repping their schools and favorite teams, and proudly displaying their military service.

The most popular designs capture some of what makes the state a beautiful place to live.

The No. 1-selling design across Florida is "Endless Summer," its design a nod to the iconic movie poster from a 1960s surfing documentary bearing the same name. The $2 million raised every year by its sale go to Surfing's Evolution and Preservation Foundation, a charitable organization which has partnered with Volusia County's own Marine Discovery Center and supported local anti-litter initiatives.

Florida's most iconic sea creatures — sea turtles, wild dolphins and manatees — all rank near the top.

The sea turtle design features a sandy loggerhead hatchling crawling into the surf. Proceeds support research and protection of sea turtles. The Save the Manatee plate features a sea cow underwater and contributes to conservation, research and rescue efforts. Both funds are manage by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Protect Wild Dolphins shows a silvery dolphin jumping from the water during a vivid sunset, the funds it raises going toward Harbor Branch's dolphin research and 24/7 emergency response for dolphins stranded or entangled in fishing gear. Another Harbor Branch design, Save Our Seas, features divers in the shadow of a great white shark and supports marine science research and education. It was designed by Guy Harvey, a marine biologist whose fish T-shirts have become ubiquitous.

Two of the state's largest universities, the University of Florida and Florida State University, also earn spots in the top 10.

The Marine Corps makes the strongest showing among military license plates. The plate supports scholarships and homes for veterans.

Two professional sports teams round out the list, with the Miami Heat's compelling redesign in 2018 launching it into the top 5. It now features the Heat logo on an all-black background using the Miami Vice color scheme.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the only one of Florida's three NFL teams making the list, its design now prominently featuring "Super Bowl Champions."
